Cabarete Kite School
Cabarete is the dream kite destination, for sure, unforgettable vacation. Kite, Surf, Yoga, Horse back riding, lots of really nice restaurants and the best nigth life. All this at a very reasonable price. At night, you can take a stroll on the beach, make a stop at one of the restos-lounge, have a drink with fellow kiteboarders and surfers. At the beach, a succession of restos and bars, you will have plenty of choice. You’ll discover live bands, restos and clubs opened up to the outdoors … a few meter away from palms trees and ocean.
Kilometers of beaches with many kitesurf spots. The reef is 1.5 km offshore (some places a little closer to shore). Water inside the reef is calm (a few chops) and on the reef the wave are 2 to 3.5 meters depending on season. Wind is side-onshore, it gently brings kiteboarders back to shore. Wind start to blow around 11:00 hrs. and fade away around 19:00 hrs. In the morning, you can surf or yoga, and folks whom partied all night chooses to sleep in until wind pick up. Our kite formations are at Punta Goleta beach, a 10 min walk west of center of Cabarete. Unlike Kite beach, this beach is not crowded. The beach is very wide, lots of space, its a very quiet spot.
You can choose to rent one of the studios, condos, apartment, villas or penthouse. The places and units we’ve chosen are located walking distance from downtown Cabarete, restaurants, clubs and night life. It’s safe to walk in Cabarete. Depending on location, everything is more or less within 5 min. walking distance. We offer accommodations for 1 or 2 persons, up to 8 persons, choice for all budgets, located directly at the beach where we teach kiteboarding or steps away. Magic19 is retailer of Starkites Kites and Boards. We have kites sizes from 3 meters to 12 mtrs. and many boards sizes, provided for lessons and also available for rentals. If you already have your own gear and would like to use it, bring it. We also offer very reasonable rates for Independant Kiteboarders lessons. You’ll save some money and will be able to enjoy kiteboarding stress free knowing that Magic19 staff member will be looking out for you and ready to help at all time. Magic19 instructors are IKO certified. At the end of your kite lesson or package, you will get certified with the IKO kiteboarder card. You will be able to purchase your IKO kiteboarder insurance and depending on the level you will be certified, rent kiteboarding gear with Magic19 or other Kiteboarding school or center.
Lessons are for kiteboarders of any level, from beginner to advance rider. Most beginners start to go up on the board in about 5 hours of private lesson. Some beginners need a little more hours of lessons to get to waterstart level, and the fast learners, sometimes take 3 or 4 hours of lessons but it’s an exception, most kiteboarders need a good 12 hours of lessons to become an independent kiteboarder. You can take as many lessons as you wish, it always depends on the level you want to achieve and how fast you want to be up on that board and riding. Experienced kiteboarders can also take lessons, we continue the formation to the level you’re at. Advanced kiteboarders can participate in Kamikaze Jump clinics or Wave Riding clinics and Downwinders. Gear is provided during lessons. Private lessons are 2.5 to 3 hours. Group lessons are 3 hours or longer and 2 persons per group.
You’ve never experienced wave riding with a kite ? We suggest that you sign in for the Wave Riding kite clinic. You will learn the basics of wave riding, how to do nice smooth transitions, fast and narrow turns, riding ‘toe side’, positioning of kite. And most important of all, security and others specifics things about Wave Riding. Downwinders are lots of fun, we choose great wind conditions with small waves. Kitesurf’s Nirvana !
You want to join us in on downwinder ? Departure from Cabarete or La Boca around 14:00 hrs. We continue downwind all the way to Encuentro Beach. Transportation included. We have to meet prior to downwinder for evaluation of your kiteboarding level , contact us a few days ahead and let us know you will be joining us.
