Magic19 Kiteboarding. One of the first kite school in Quebec. Establish since 2006. Offering Kitesurf lessons as well as Kiteski and Snowkite in the Montreal region. Well known in the kite industry for its kite trip and kitesurf formations in several countries, particularly in the Caribbean’s and the Americas. You can also Kitesurf 12 months per year and benefit from our Magic19 Kiteboarding formations in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Various packages offered: Yoga, Massage Therapy, Surf and Kitesurf.
In the Montreal region. Kitesurf is thought on the St-Laurent River, in shallow water. The kite spots varies depending on wind direction. It takes between 9 to 12 hours of lessons to learn kitesurfing and become an independent kiteboarder with sufficient knowledge about security and navigation. Lessons can be private or semi-private. Gear is provided during lessons and you will be certified with the IKO Kiteboarder card at the end of lessons.
Kitesurf season in Montreal starts in April until end of November. And for beginner’s lessons, season starts in May until end of September. Don’t wait to reserve your place, summer is short and we sometimes have waiting list for lessons, especially during week-ends !
Kiteboarder courses are for kiteboarders of any level, from beginner to advance rider. Most beginers start to go up on the board in about 5 hours of private lesson. Some beginners need a little more hours of lessons to get to waterstart level, and the fast learners, sometimes take 3 or 4 hours of lessons but it’s an exception. You can take as many lessons as you wish, it always depends on the level you want to achieve and how fast you want to be up on that board and riding. Experienced kiteboarders can also take lessons, we continue the formation to the level you’re at. Kitesurf packages and rates for our Montreal School are listed below.
Magic19 is retailer of Starkites Kites and Boards. We have kites sizes from 3 meters to 12 mtrs. and many boards sizes, provided for lessons. If you already have your own gear and would like to use it, bring it. Magic19 offers school packages including Starkites gear + free kite lessons. Students that have already taken classes, kite clinics or rental with Magic19 Kiteboarding get a discount on Starkites gear when purchased via Magic19 Kiteboarding.
Magic19 instructors are IKO certified. At the end of your kite lesson or package, you will get certified with the IKO kiteboarder card. You will be able to purchase your IKO kiteboarder insurance and depending on the level you will be certified, rent kiteboarding gear with Magic19 or other Kiteboarding school or center.

Kiteski / Snowkite lessons
In winter, the kite season start as soon as we get enough snow coverage on the ground, usually in January. Season ends in March or beginning of April depending on the snow. In Quebec, snowkite is practiced on frozen lakes and in fields covered with snow. For the glide, you can use skis or snowboard. In a 3 hours lesson, you will learn all the basics of flying the kite but most beginers feel comfortable to go on their own and kite without the supervision of an instructor after they’ve taken 5 hours of private lesson, we strongly suggest that you take the package of 2 lessons of 2.5 hours witch is done over 2 days.
Get ready for winter season in Quebec. Take your land lesson now while weather is still warm, then practice… practice … practice. By the time snow falls, you’ll already be a pro at flying that kite, all you’ll have to do is take a snow introduction class, put on your skis or snowboard and ride.
